This fine clock stands in a proud varnished mahogany case with an arched roof and significant bevelled overhang. The clock stands on four brass animal feet and has a brass handle on the top. The front of the case features a door with a class cover behind which are the two clock faces. The main clock face features a twelve hour clock denominated in Roman numerals and Arabic numerals set on a silvery ring of metal. Between each number is an etched plant of the creeper variety. The remainder of the clock face is golden brass decorated with an intricately etched floral pattern punctuated by three wind holes and the hallmark of the manufacturer Hermle. The minute and hour hands are both black matte metal and elegantly shaped. Above the hour clock lies the moon clock in the arch of the structure which tracks the progress of the lunar month. The dial is decorated in navy blue with celestial iconography and the silver arch around it is etched with clouds and two women, one holding a sword, the other an anchor. The rear of the clock has a light board that can be unlatched and removed to provide access to the interior of the clock. The interior reveals the signature of the manufacturer Franz Hermle. Every quarter of an hour the Westminster melody is played.
